The Department of Computer Science of GKV was established in 1988 with introduction of PGDCA. After successful completion of five years of PGDCA, UGC accorded the approval of upgrading PGDCA to Master of Computer Application (MCA) in 1993, under the UGC-DOE joint manpower training program in Computer Science and Technology. In the same year 1993 MCA course was started in KGM, Dehradun for girls.
