Undergraduate level

The university awards two degrees at the undergraduate level in the faculties of Humanities and Oriental Studies- Vidyalankar and Vedalankar. Since English is a compulsory subject at the undergraduate level, all students enrolled in these courses study English. Since the year 2006, these students study functional English as a compulsory subject. The Department also offers English Literature as an optional subject to these students.

Postgraduate level:

The Department awards the degree of M.A. in English to the students at the Postgraduate level. There is annual examination system and the department teaches five papers in M.A. previous and five in M.A. final. Besides these papers, the students have to appear in the viva voce test in both the years.

Doctoral level:

The University awards the degree of Ph. D. in English. The intake of the students in this programme is as per the guidelines of the UGC. The thrust areas of research in this department are Indian English Literature and Application of Indian Aesthetics to English Literature.
